At Wembley Stadium on June 8th, Wigan Warriors will take on Warrington Wolves in rugby league’s premier knockout competition, the Challenge Cup. Dating back to 1896, the Challenge Cup is the world’s oldest cup competition in either rugby code. As the club’s Official Technical Partner, the Warriors will be clad in Kappa kit for the big game.
Wigan are no strangers to Challenge Cup success having made 33 appearances in the final, winning a record 20 times. The Warriors last appeared in the Challenge Cup final in 2022 when they beat Huddersfield 16-14 in dramatic fashion, scoring the match-winning try with just three minutes remaining. Almost 52,000 spectators were in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium that day.

The Warriors progressed to the 2024 final with a thumping semi-final win over Hull Kingston Rovers. Leading 22-0 at the break, Wigan ran out 38-6 victors at the whistle.
Saturday will see the first cup final meeting between the Warriors and the Wolves since 1990 and it’s set to be a close contest. With Wigan and Warrington separated by just 13 miles in the heartland of rugby league, it’s very much a local derby. The two clubs are also close in the Super League table, with just two points separating the Warriors in second place and the Wolves in fourth. They met in the league just last weekend with the Warriors running out 19-18 winners in a closely fought contest.
So an exciting day in prospect for all rugby league fans, and the best of luck to the Warriors!
